About the National Payroll Giving Excellence Awards
The National Payroll Giving Awards Event was held on 5 October 2009 to celebrate the efforts of employers, charities and professional partnerships in promoting Payroll Giving in the work place. Any employer who has achieved a Bronze, Silver or Gold Payroll Giving Award Certificate is eligible to apply for entry to the National Payroll Giving Awards.
The Awards and Event are funded by HM Government, organised in conjunction with the Institute of Fundraising and administered by the Payroll Giving Centre.
The Payroll Giving Quality Mark Certificates are issued annually to all employers with a Payroll Giving scheme in place and achieve specified levels of participation.

Who is Involved in the Awards
HM Government , committed to increasing regular and tax-effective giving in support of UK charities. In particular the Office of the Third Sector and Cabinet Office, HM Revenue and Customs and HM Treasury.
The Institute of Fundraising is the professional membership body for UK fundraisers, working to promote the highest standards in fundraising practice and management.
The Payroll Giving Centre is an independent source of support for employers, donors and charities, offering a dedicated hotline, advisory service and information on all matters relating to Payroll Giving Schemes.
General Awards Criteria
The National Payroll Giving Excellence Awards have been established in conjunction with the Institute of Fundraising and the Payroll Giving Centre and are designed to showcase the best Payroll Giving schemes in the UK.
Any employer who has achieved a Bronze, Silver or Gold Quality Mark Award in 2009 is eligible to submit an entry for the National Payroll Giving Excellence Awards 2009.
All applications are marked against specific criteria by a panel of impartial judges. Every category is unique and therefore so is the individual criteria although the qualifying period is the same for all categories – 1st April 2008 to 31st March 2009. Eligibility
- Employers in receipt of 2009 Bronze, Silver or Gold Quality Mark Awards are eligible to enter providing their promotion or campaign was carried out between 1st April 2008 and the 31st March 2009.
- In the event that the campaign or promotion was carried out over a number of sites the date that the final promotion took place must be within the time frame stated above.
- Applications can be made for no more than two categories featuring the same promotion or campaign. Each application must be completed separately.
- There is no charge to submit your application(s).
Authenticity Guarantee
Employers making applications must confirm that the content of their application(s) to the best of their knowledge, is legal, decent, honest and truthful. The Institute of Fundraising and the judging panel reserve the right to ask for additional information from the employer and to make enquiries with the relevant Payroll Giving Agency, Professional Fundraising Organisation, Charity or Charity Consortia where appropriate.
Application Process
- Employers will be sent a confirmation of receipt of their application(s) by email.
- All employers not selected for the shortlist are able to request that feedback be given in respect of their application(s) after the event by emailing the administrators, details are given under ‘Contacts’.
- All employers short-listed for the Awards will be notified by the Payroll Giving Centre following the judging day in September 2009.
- The Payroll Giving Centre reserves the right to move applications to a more suitable category if deemed beneficial and the employer will be notified of this decision.
- Strict enforcement of the limitations on the number of words requested will apply and applications may be rejected if word numbers are exceeded.

Lindsay Boswell
As Chief Executive of the Institute of Fundraising since 2000, Lindsay has driven the organisation forward to become the leading voice and professional body for fundraising in the UK.
Sarah Benioff
Joined the Cabinet Office, Office of the Third Sector (OTS) as Deputy Director for Participation, in July 2007. With a Masters in Public Policy and Public Administration Sarah has been involved with many voluntary and community sector organisations.
Keith Moore
